Learn how to bead on a loom!
Bead worker and Kittery resident Karen Saltus will demonstrate loom work on a variety of different looms, including a traditional Indian bead loom, a loom with a shedding device similar to cloth looms, a loom that Karen built herself, and adjustable looms with few threads to sew in at the end.
Increasing, decreasing, split loom techniques, and finishing off will be demonstrated. Participants will be able to try different looms. This activity is suitable for those 12 and over.
Karen has been beading for over 30 years and is well-versed in many forms of on and off loom work, including peyote stitch, brick stitch, and in particular bead embroidery. She is a member of the Maine Bead Society.
