Program Description

Event Details

Please join Rice Public Library and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Historical Foundation in a tour of several key sites on the shipyard just across the channel!

The tour will include stops outside Quarters A (home of the Commander and his family), Memorial Park (showcasing old armaments and the conning tower of the USS Sailfish), Building 86 (where the 1905 Treaty of Portsmouth was signed), and a chance to view the exterior of the Portsmouth Naval Prison up close. After the tour, enjoy some time exploring the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Heritage Center, where countless artifacts from its history are preserved and on display.

As this event is a tour of a secure US government site, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will carry out a security clearance check of some sort on attendees, in advance. By registering, you acknowledge that this will be necessary in order to attend.
